How do I request a new stop sign/multi-way stop (three or four-way stop)?

Traffic Signs
Multi-way Stop signs are installed at an intersection only after a study shows that installation is appropriate. A variety of criteria must be met including traffic volumes and accident history. Stop signs are not effective for speed control. Studies show speeds can increase between stop signs when compared to the speeds before the stop sign was installed. In addition, overuse of stop signs reduces their effectiveness and causes drivers to ignore them, creating an unsafe situation.
To request a study of an intersection for a possible multi-way stop, contact Traffic Engineering at 720-977-6490, via email at trafficengineering@ThorntonCO.gov, or submit a service request.
