Are fireworks allowed in Thornton?

Category: Fireworks

In Thornton you can’t possess, make, store, sell, handle, and use fireworks in the city limits.  Any firework that has to be lit is illegal.  Novelty items such as snap pops or the confetti-filled items with a string are okay.

A first violation will result in a mandatory minimum fine of $500. A second violation within a 12 month period will result in a mandatory minimum fine of $1,000.  For more information, refer to the illegal fireworks web page.

To report someone with fireworks, call the dispatch center at 720-977-5150, or call 9-1-1 for emergencies.  My Thornton requests are not monitored 24/7 and concerns reported via this system will not be seen and acted upon until the next business day.

Instead of having personal fireworks, plan to attend the city's 4th of July celebration at Carpenter Park Fields!  More information is available on this page.
