What is the difference between a trial to court and a jury trial?

Category: Court Processes
If you enter a Not Guilty plea at arraignment, you will need to set your case for trial.  A Trial to Court is a trial that is held before a judge while a Trial to Jury is a trial in front of your peers (between 3-6) and requires a jury demand and a $25.00 jury deposit within 21 days of the Not Guilty plea.  If you cannot afford the jury deposit, you can fill out a financial affidavit and if eligible, the deposit fee may be waived.  Certain charges are eligible for a trial by jury. For more information, please reference the Trial to Court & Jury Trial Information page on the Court's website or call the Court during normal business hours at 720-977-5400.
