What crime prevention assistance is available?

Category: Crime Prevention

Free crime prevention assistance for city businesses and residents is available from the Thornton Police Department. A specially developed program provides suggested crime prevention techniques you may implement to reduce your chances of becoming a burglary, theft, robbery, rape or fraud victim. A crime prevention officer can conduct a security survey of your business, and make crime prevention presentations to your employees as well as business and professional groups. For crime prevention assistance, visit the Community Relations Unit at the police department, or call 720-977-5000.

One of the best ways to prevent crime in residential neighborhoods is to organize a Neighborhood Watch Group. Since 1988, over 100 Neighborhood Watch groups have been formed. The success of the program is clear. Free informational brochures are available on topics including bad checks, theft, burglary, reporting suspicious activity, fraud, and personal safety. Also available to area businesses are various training videos covering shoplifting, robbery, and other business related topics. For more information about business crime prevention, contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 720-977-5000.
