What are the city's driveway requirements for residential properties?
Driveways must be at least three feet (3’) from the property line in front of the front plane of the main structure, and may be one foot (1’) from the property line behind the front plane of the main structure.
Driveways may be no more than thirty feet (30’) wide at the street, and no more than twenty-four (24’) wide at the street if it is on the bulb of a cul-de-sac.
Secondary access may be allowed if the second access is not on the same street frontage as the primary access.
Driveway extensions must be directly adjacent to the existing required driveway, and are allowed provided that they meet all driveway criteria, and lead to enclosed parking or to the side yard.
Building permits are required for all driveway construction or alterations.
Visit the Building Inspections page (for building permits).
