A tax rebate program for active adults 62+ who currently live or have resided in Thornton the previous calendar year. Applicants must meet income guidelines by providing documentation. Applications are accepted during the month of September.  You must meet these criteria: 

• Live within the city from January - December of the previous year, residency for the year can include any of the following: copy of your most recent property tax statement or a copy of your rent receipts or canceled rent checks for the year.
• You must be 62 years of age or older.
  
• You paid property taxes in the prior 12 months as substantiated by your Adams County property tax statement on a home you own or evidence of rent paid. Every person listed on the property tax statement must be 62+ to qualify.
• Rebate eligibility is determined by household size, gross monthly income (GMI):
  • Household size: 1; GMI: $3,081
  • Household size: 2; GMI: $4,030
  • Household size: 3; GMI: $4,978
  • Household size: 4; GMI: $5,926
  • Household size: 5; GMI: $6,875 
  • Household size: 6; GMI: $7,823 
  • Household size: 7; GMI: $8,001 
  • Household size: 8; GMI: $8,179
  • Each additional person; $117
