What do I need to know about Smoke Alarms?

Thornton Fire Department would like every residential home to be properly fitted with Smoke Alarms. Smoke alarms can be purchased at any major retail or home improvement store and should be tested at least once a month and replaced if older than ten years. For more information on residential smoke alarms please visit the City of Thornton website under the tab public safety-fire department.

Audible Alert Smoke Alarms: Audible Alert Smoke alarms are available to Thornton citizens who meet need requirements. We will install stand-alone smoke alarms for individuals who are physically challenged and/or elderly and are in need of assistance. All families who do not have a working smoke alarm in their home and do not have means to obtain one should call Fire Administration at 303-538-7602 for assistance.

*Please test your smoke alarms once a month and change the batteries when you change your clocks!
