What is the white residue on my dishes? What can I do to get rid of it?
Category:
Water Quality
The white residue is a buildup of calcium. Years ago, the dishwasher detergent makers changed their formulas and removed phosphates, which were previously getting rid of the “white spots.” You can try a few different things:
-
Run your dishes through a rinse cycle with a cup of vinegar (and no detergent) added;
-
Turn off the heated dry feature;
-
Some customers have had good results using additives like Bio-Clean, CitriClean, or Lemi Shine.
