What is the Local Licensing Authority?

The Local Licensing Authority conducts hearings and makes findings of fact as to whether to grant or deny a local liquor license and review alleged liquor and beer violations within Thornton. The Authority is responsible for considering applications for new, transfer of ownership, change of corporate structure, request to modify, and special events for the sale of malt, vinous, and spirituous liquor and fermented malt beverages.

The Local Licensing Authority meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month. In order to serve as a member of the Local Licensing Authority you must be at least twenty-one years of age. Members should represent and reflect the conscience of the community and be generally acquainted with all areas of the City.
