What is a contaminant? What backflow assemblies are acceptable to be used?

A contaminant is considered a high health hazard.

Backflows such as a Reduced pressure principle assembly (RP/RPPA), Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB), Spill resistant vacuum breaker (SVB). But only RPPA’s are allowed to be subjected to backpressure conditions for high health hazard applications. Therefore, knowing what you are going to be protecting against determines the specific type of backflow to be used. Including backsiphonage and backpressure.
